Research Questions

The overall objective is to have a look at the tweets refering to money. Where are the so-to-say "financial hotspots" located? Another interesting aspect for us was to check out the data in general for example from which twitter sources does the data come from (like instagram or foresquare)?

As second part of analysis an attempt of "mood- analysis" is done based on the money-related tweets. There is the old saying that money won't make you happy... We'll have a look at this - how do people talk or shall we say "tweet" about money related things? Are they complaining? Or do they share their happiness when it comes to financial things?

In order to create a more scientific character for this project we thought of some hypothesis which come into mind when thinking about the topic.

●        Hypothesis 1: Money talk takes place in rather big cities (that have big financial centres)
●        Hypothesis 2: Money buys happiness

Summary

More Specifically, the study is focused on:

● Filtering out tweet feeds refering to money in different languages from a specific part of all gelocated Twitter data (For details on data, please see the according part of this Blog)

● Reading the public mood from the filtered tweet feeds

● To gain better knowledge about the overall intensity of tweets and especially the tweets with a financial topic

● Gain some insight how money influences peoples happines (based on the tweets)

Results

After doing all the neccessary exploration & analysis in the given data, both Hypothesis seem confirmed. To find out more details, please visit the corresponding pages in this Blog - "Details on data" (especially parts 2 & 3) as well as "Mood Analysis in tweets".
